Playing around with my Motorola Droid over lunch, I downloaded the Shopper application, turned it on, scanned the bar code from the bottle of vitamins sitting on my table and instantaneously I was shown the Google search results for that exact product, image and all, links to all the sites selling it, prices, etc.!
Then I tried it again using the voice recognition feature. I said, "Paul Jackson watercolor book" as I would love to find a copy of this awesome, out-of-print book since Paul is coming to Long Beach next month to deliver a workshop. Bingo — "Shopper" found people selling the book. Amazing!
Next time I'm out shopping, I can scan a bar code and instantly find out if I can get the same item elsewhere for a better price!
I think this phone and this app have just transported me back (or forward) into some technologically advanced space age I seem to remember.
